GREEN APPLE CHUTNEY

Ingredients

  • 3 Granny Smith apples
  • 3 - 4 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp mustard seeds
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp red chili flakes
  • 2 pinches asafoetida
  • 1 tsp red curry powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp fennel powder
  • 1 tsp crushed coriander seeds

Directions

  • Cut peeled Granny Smith apples into cubes
  • Heat oil and add the mustard seeds
  • After they splutter, add curry and the rest of the spices and sauté briefly
  • Add the apple cubes to the mixture
  • Cover and simmer on low flame for 5 - 10 minutes until apples start to soften, then add sugar
  • Cook until the apples are soft
  • Apple chutney can be kept for up to 15 days in the refrigerator
