• 1 qt. whole milk
  • 1 pinch saffron threads
  • 1/4 cup chopped almonds
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 – 2 tbsp white flour
  • 1 – 2 tsp corn starch
  • 4 large Golden apples


  • Stir sugar, almonds and saffron threads into milk
  • Cook over a medium flame till thickened, adding flour and starch as necessary
  • Once the mixture thinkens like rabri, remove from heat and let it cool
  • Cut the tops off and core the apples (reserve tops for later)
  • Grate the pulp of one apple and mix it into the cooling mixture
  • Stuff apple shells with the mixture and cover with the apple tops you reserved
  • Refrigerate covered for 2 hours
  • Serve chilled

Also great for making apple custard popsicles!
